Basic Hydraulics

The study of hydraulics is an ancient science. Hydraulic theory is based on the law of conservation of energy. Bernoulli's Equation is a basic theorem of hydraulic flow. All practical formulas for the flow of fluids are derived from Bernoulli's equation with additions to account for losses due to friction.

There are a number of practical handbooks which discuss fluid flow. One of our favorites is Flow of Fluids Through Valves, Fittings, and Pipe, Technical Paper No. 410 by the Engineering Division, Crane Co. New York, NY.
